Trying to Conceive

What you can do before Trying to Conceive(TTC):

  1. See your doctor for a general check up, pap smear, blood test to check things like iron level, Rhesus factor and your rubella. Also make sure you are covered for Whooping Cough. Your doctor might like to test other things this is why it’s good to speak to your doctor.
  2. Prenatal vitamins should be start a few months before you start TTC. There is even vitamins available for your partner to take. Speak to our doctor to work out which is best for you.

Interesting Facts:

* Around nine out of 10 couples achieve a pregnancy after one year of unprotected sex.

* A couple isn’t considered as having fertility problems until they have tried and failed to conceive for one year.

*Around 40 per cent of fertility problems are female and 40 per cent are male. The remaining difficulties are caused by unknown factors.

*Most people who suffer infertility issues are over 30.

*Being able to identify when you ovulate can help you fall pregnant.
* Slippery, clear and stretchable mucus is a sign of Ovulation.

*Having sex prior to Ovulation and the day of ovulation will increase your odds of falling pregnant.

*It’s a good idea to chart your cycle so if you have trouble falling pregnant you can show your doctor.

 

Infertility Risk Factors

 

  • Age – From your early 30’s your chance of falling pregnant decrees.
  • Weight – Both being overweight and underweight increase your chance of infertility and miscarriage.
  • Stress – Can play a part in infertility as your menstrual cycle can be affect by stress.
  • Smoking –  Men and Woman who smoke increase their risk being unable to fall pregnant. Woman who smoke are also at a greater risk of miscarriage.
  • Alcohol – Even moderate intake can impair conception.
  • Caffeine – Some studies have shown and increase with infertility with the intake of to much caffeine while other have shown no increase at all. It’s believe to affect the mother the most. To much caffeine can increase risk of miscarriage.
